Hello! Welcome back, it’s been so long! I’m thrilled you’re here and I can’t wait to settle in and get to know one another better!
I’m really excited about my new website and so I wanted to take the time to really introduce you to it and what singlenesting is all about.
First, you’ll notice that I have a number of categories. Each category represents the main topics I believe go into making a home truly yours. The names resonated with me and feel like “me” and so there you have it.
In this series, I will give you a little bit of background for each category so you know what to expect. You can probably kinda tell based on the name, but I’ve found it’s best to define your terms so that you understand what I mean and avoid any unnecessary confusion!
And so, here we go!
Gathering is all about inviting others into your home and creating a warm, inviting environment where they feel seen, heard and nourished. This can be accomplished through hospitality or entertaining and hosting. It could be crowds, smaller groups, or just one friend going through a tough time who needs a quiet, comfy, cozy spot, some tea and a sympathetic ear for a few hours.
Gathering is also about how you can optimize your home as your own sanctuary and safe haven. Coming from the perspective of a single person, who has mostly lived with roommates, and who also leans towards the introverted side of the spectrum, sometimes what I need is a simple gathering of one. Silence and solitude are what are most needed to recharge. Here, I’ll share ways you can accomplish that in your home, too.
I like this definition of gathering that Google told me: an assembly or meeting, especially a social or festive one or one held for a specific purpose.
A specific purpose. It could be special, it could be mundane, it could be healing, it could be rejuvenating, it could be restful, it could be celebratory, it could be productive, it could be indulgent.
It could also be your regular, ol’ everyday. Whether you’re single and live alone or share your home with others, roommates, family, spouse, the tenants of gathering can be taken into every corner of home life.

One last thought: my original definition for this category was this - Fostering an atmosphere of intention, relationship, and sanctuary. That rings true to this day.
