I really like diffusing essential oils. Beyond making your home smell lovely, there are so many benefits when you inhale these scents. I’ll get to some of those in this post.

I ditched the chemical-filled scented candles years ago in favor of diffusing. At first, I wasn’t really convinced about the whole essential oil thing because the smell was so different to me, being unused to clean and high quality ingredients. I also noticed that some oils gave me a headache. I later learned that if that happens, it can mean that the oil is detoxifying something in your body. (But, I’m not a medical practitioner, and this is not medical advice or diagnosis, so please consult your doctor before using or if you notice a symptom.)

When using high quality essential oils, you can rest assured that you’re not inhaling dangerous chemicals or toxins. You can reap the health benefits of the plants and the properties that are enhanced by the distillation process. You can even create an atmosphere of certain feelings or moods, depending on the oils you choose.

They have some blends that I really love to diffuse, however, for this post, I’ll be sharing single oil recipes.

Let’s begin with examples of single oils! Sound good?

My Favorite Essential Oils for Diffusing:

Frankincense

With its woodsy scent, lots of people like to diffuse it for its grounding sensation. You can use it during prayer or meditation or just to provide an atmosphere of peace and calm to comfort yourself on a stressful day.

Lavender

Lavender is wonderful to diffuse all on its own. If you need some calming down, it’ll help you do that. If you need a lil’ pick-me-up, it’ll do that, too.

Orange

I like adding a few drops of orange essential oil because it gives a brightness compliment to the other oils I’m diffusing. I’ll often pair a more earthy or grounding scent with orange to play off each other while I’m typing away at my computer.

Cedarwood

Which leads me to this gem of an essential oil. I love the scent of cedarwood. I find it to be so comforting. Combining the soothing aroma of cedarwood with the uplifting orange really helps me to concentrate on the deep work task at hand.

Copaiba

Another one of those earthy aromas, I find copaiba to be soothing, as well. It has a hint of sweetness about it. Combine it with lavender to give yourself a relaxing environment.

Citronella

An alternative to those chemically candles, try diffusing citronella to keep the bugs at bay while enjoying the outdoors. It’s a fresh scent and is perfect for the warmer months.

These are the essential oils I’ve been gravitating towards lately! I’m sure it’ll change as we enter further into sweater weather!
