My bedroom in my new place is a really comfortable size. It may very well be the largest bedroom I’ve lived in. Which is great because it gives me plenty of room to stretch and twirl around.

And, to be honest with you, friends, I’ve been running into some blocks in terms of how to fill it in. Or where things should go. I suppose it’s a good thing that I don’t mind taking my time to figure this sort of thing out!

I enjoy the process of staring at a space and not knowing what to do and getting super overwhelmed and then letting it go and living with it only for the perfect solution to magically appear out of thin air. I don’t know about you guys, but I find that whole routine rewarding in the end. I just really love the discovery of the solution after ruminating on it for some time.

As far as decorating is concerned, though, you may recognize some of the things. I reused my curtains, which I love and have missed in a bedroom setting. I’ve had that rug for yearsssss but also haven’t used it for years, so it’s like it’s new. My medicine cabinet is just classic and pretty and practical and, well, me! And my chair placed next to my jewelry cabinet and in front of the curtains just feels like it belongs all together.

Having these pieces and reusing them certainly helped fill in the space while still maintaining the airiness of the room. I find it comforting to reuse these familiar pieces to make a new space feel more like home.

However, on the other hand, it is also super fun to search for new pieces to fill in a new space. And that’s the part I’m taking my time with. I’d like to switch out that Louis chair for something more comfortable I can curl up in and read and drink my morning coffee while having some quiet time. I’m also debating on whether or not to buy a larger dresser. Because, while the closet is a gorgeously large size, I could use some more drawer storage.

I knew moving in that I didn’t want to position my bed on the wall to the right of the doorway. My last two bedrooms had that view and I wanted something different for this one. And so, I placed the head of my bed on the wall adjacent to the hallway, the same as the door opening. This way, my view is out the windows to the front of the house.

I really enjoy waking up to seeing the windows and not, say, a wall and the closet door. Especially now that I have the curtains up. Doesn’t feel so fishbowl-y. And I really love the way the curtains soften the look and feel. It’s also so lovely to sleep with the windows open and the curtains drawn.

It’s still very much a work in progress, as you can tell. There’s still lots to be done downstairs and that will help sort out some of the things I’ve kind of just stuffed in here for the time being. I’m sure I’ll be revisiting this space often as it continues to evolve! And while it’s great to show all the perfections of a finished space, I wanted to try to be authentic in showing the imperfections. Don’t you worry, though, I’ll get to the perfection. At some point anyway!
