Hey there! Happy mid-summer!

Welp, I’ve been in the new place just over three weeks now. Things are getting there and functional. It’s comfortable for the everyday. But there are still loads of packed boxes and organizational solutions still needing to be figured out.

And, you know what? I’m ok with taking the time to sort it all out. I find that if you leave room for solutions to present themselves, they often do. You know, rather than forcing it.

My couch, sofa tables, ottoman and living room rug are happily set up in a cozy corner in the finished basement. It’s quite a nice spot for some quiet time of reflection or reading or working on personal finances or visiting with guests.

I’m still trying to sort out housing my book collection. I may reorient my couch from against the wall to facing the wall once I’ve gotten some bookcases. Staring at a blank wall wouldn’t be all that exciting.

We’re also planning on creating a kind of butler’s pantry against the wall next to the door to the laundry room. There’s a secondary fridge in the laundry room and so the idea was to put a shelving unit next to it as an overflow pantry. So a couple more shelving units just outside the door for our kitchen accoutrements that don’t have a home in the kitchen make sense as a practical solution to a cozy kitchen.

Other plans for this rather large space include a craft space. The roomie bought a beautiful dining room table set for the main dining area. We both agreed that the table I contributed would make a great secondary option for larger dinner parties or crafting or game nights or whatever strikes our fancy! (Be prepared for some #brilliantideas coming your way from the craft table!)

Down the road we may also turn a corner into an exercise place. Have yoga mats and kettlebells and free weights. Yoga, pilates, HIIT, here I come!

I was pretty much able to unpack all of my clothes I’m wearing regularly these days. Work from home really limits the clothes you wear! I’ve got my “work” leggings and then my “after-work” yoga pants.

My bedroom is still very much not finished. I still have my medicine cabinet to put up. Still deciding where, exactly. I also want to buy a curtain rod and hang my curtains that I love, oh, so much. The local HomeGoods didn’t have any rods, though. Weird.

I know this is an odd thing to admit, but I’m actually really looking forward to organizing my closet. It’s a really good size, not exactly a “walk-in” per se, but I can definitely step in. I’ll let you know how that goes!

The bathroom, to be honest, has me stumped. I keep thinking about it but haven’t come up with any brilliant ideas yet. Sometimes it takes living in a space for a while until that light bulb goes off and you suddenly know how to sort it out.

Sooo, it’s only been three weeks. A lot has happened already but there’s a lot still to do. It’ll be a fun process to come up with both creative organizational solutions but also sorting out those simple domestic moments that make a house a home.
