Today is singlenesting’s birthday! This lil’ blog officially launched way back in 2019 on this day, May 21st. It’s really hard to believe it’s been six years!
There have been many seasons to this little home on the internet. Several of which were very unexpected. I’m sure there will be even more as the years press on but for now, I’m enjoying the return to my family home and having the privilege of creating a home there. I have so many dreams and plans and ideas. I just hope that my back will cooperate enough to get it all done! Well, my back and my energy levels, lol.
If you’ve been around for the last few weeks, you’ll have noticed that I’ve been re-publishing old posts from the first version of the website. Since today is a special day and we’re still in the reposting older posts phase, I thought I would take the opportunity to repost the very first post for you to enjoy again!
Next week starts fresh blog content, so make yourself comfy and stay awhile! Or, if you have other things to take care of, come back! You can just come in and call out hello when you get here, no need to knock, I’ll be expecting you!
But, if you’re the type that gets caught up in other things you’re doing and needs a reminder, sign up for my weekly newsletter! I send out a personal letter each Wednesday full of fresh content, special offerings just for my subscribers and my whole heart! (Ugh, so cheesy! But, true.)

I read a blog post on blogging once upon a time. It said how no one really reads your first post. It also said how as you move forward and grow with your blog, adding more content and posts, the first one gets buried and so, like, really, no one reads it. With all that in mind, and the effort it took to get to this place, here it is, friends! I’m taking a huge leap of faith by opening up and sharing my heart. I hope you find something meaningful and please, please!, be kind to me!

I’ve had this idea on a blog on homemaking for s.u.c.h. a long time now. I think my friends and family started thinking, will this girl ever pull the trigger? Or is she just gonna talk about it forever.

The talk-time is over.

I’m pulling the trigger and I’ve gotta say, I am so super excited! Not only because I love the whole concept of home and homemaking and what that means practically as well as in the feelings area, but also, I love opening up my home to friends and my community. It’s an expression of hospitality, good-will, generosity, brother-and sister-hood (sibling-hood?), and for me, an extension of how I love people.

It’s my belief that homemaking is integral to the human condition. No matter what season of life you’re in, where you live, what you do, it all comes back to home. And home can be as obvious as the house you live in, or the town where that house has its foundation built. But home is also who you share it with, the memories made there, the respite from the outside world.

Whether you share your home with a partner, kids, pets, plants, roommates or solo, I hope you find enjoyment in what you’ll find here.

My door’s open! Let’s make home!
