Hi friend and welcome to week two of the intro series!

As you may have deciphered from the title, this category surrounds the topic of food.

The reason for this category is because of how essential food is to life. Basic fuel and nourishment give us the energy we need to do the things we need to do. And, as we are humans with reason, skill and creativity, we can also craft beautiful and delicious foods to meet this purpose. Often, all the more enjoyable when shared with others (see previous category:).

At this point, I would like to share this disclaimer: I would not self-identify as a cook or chef. However, I have been told that I’ve got good instincts when it comes to crafting a dish and I’m learning to lean into that. I DO consider myself to be in my ‘experimentation in the kitchen’ phase of life.

So these recipes and hacks will be from a novice perspective, doing my best to provide measurements. I’m more of a “this big spoon looks like it could be a tbsp” kinda cook. But,that being said, I’ve come up with some delicious meals lately!

This is the category where I get to share those with you!

There may also be some videos over on the ‘gram. Maybe…

Historically, my recipes have been easy, pretty basic, minimal measurements and light on the proverbial chitter chatter before getting to the meat of the actual recipe.

Moving forward, that’ll probably not change too much here on the blog.

There may be something more substantial coming later this year, though. Maybe…

It’s become increasingly important to me to nourish my body in a way that cleanly fuels it. I’ve experimented with eliminating certain types of products and ingredients and, when I do, I feel so much better overall. So, as I continue to create new dishes that will be interesting and yummy, I will share those, as well.

I also quite enjoy sharing the heritage comfort meals and dishes that I grew up with. You can expect to see a smattering or a series or so of those.

My Main Squeeze is very talented in the kitchen as well as quite adventurous in his flavorings. He’s also incredibly adept at cooking on a grill. He’s had a significant influence on me in terms of slowing down my cooking. Before him, I had a tendency to burn everything (luckily, I like burnt food) but he’s taught me the superiority of low and slow cooking. We enjoy a good slow cooker meal, so, expect those, too! Let me know if you’d like to see a guest appearance from him!

No meal at the table would be complete without drinks. Specialty liquid refreshments will be sprinkled in throughout the seasons.

You know what’s funny? I always anticipate my At the Table weeks to be shorter than the others but they end up being a larger word count. Go figure!

One last thought: nourishing our household and those we invite into share it with us is such a substantial part of life. Beyond creating perfect presentations, which is not my goal, I seek to help you foster the other areas of your homemaking with this primal human need to nourish our bodies. Sometimes it’ll be pretty, other times, I dunno!

Until next time, I’ll keep the cushions fluffed and the kettle ready!

Happy homemaking, friends!
