Alright, so this isn’t exactly a parfait in the traditional French sense. It’s not a dessert. Or made out of eggs or cream or syrup. I don’t serve this in a tall, elegant glass.

But I do enjoy this treat every now and again. It’s simple and healthy. And who doesn’t like simple and healthy?

Not this girl.

And in honor of my aversion of recipes, well, complex recipes, this parfait doesn’t have one.

My parfait consists of these ingredients:

Yogurt
Granola
Berries

I went through a season where I would make this for my breakfast and bring it to work. I bought frozen berries to add to the yogurt and granola in my pyrex container and by the time I drove the hour and half in traffic, the berries were thawed enough to enjoy. I mean, it was a clever idea because it also kept the yogurt cold enough.

I prefer using a full fat yogurt but with no added sugar. I find that between the granola and the berries, there’s enough sweetness in the mix. Greek yogurt works pretty darn perfectly.

Of course, when it’s berry season, fresh berries are soooo much better than frozen.

As for the granola, I’ve always looked for a brand with as little sugar as possible. Sugar is not my friend and so I try to avoid the excessive amounts that are in our processed food. Reading labels is super important because there’s so much that’s hidden in the foods we get that we just don’t think about.

I’ve recently joined Thrive Market and found an organic, gluten free aaannnnd paleo granola. It makes for an even more guilt-free parfait experience!

I like parfaits of this nature because they’re basically a healthy snack when made with really good ingredients. I also love my food to have lots of color and so this breakfast or snack totally satisfies that love while it nourishes my body.
