Have any of you noticed how when you have a pet, you add -ies to the end of words you normally wouldn’t? Rubbies, scratchies, no stressies… snackies.

I don’t know about you, but I love a good snack. My Main Squeeze knows to get me pre-dinner snacks to tide me over until dinner rolls around, which is inevitably late. I really do appreciate this about him!

In the good ol’ summertime, snacks can go through a bit of a shift. They become lighter and colder. Like ice cream! Or popsicles. But also fruit and cheese and cured meats.

Summer evening snackies can also be lots of chilled dips like guacamole, tzatziki, hummus, dill dip, spinach dip. Mmmm!

I love eating raw vegetables. I love me my salads all year round and in the summer, it’s wonderful how abundant the fresh veggies are!

Not to mention the berries that are in season.

One of my favorite things is to put a plate together of all my favorites: cured meats, cheese, olives, pickles, bell peppers, cucumbers, carrots, mushrooms. Add to it some hummus or guac and it’s a filling and satisfying snack!

I feel that summer time is especially made for finger foods. For just pinching a little morsel and popping it into your mouth. And for indulging in all the fruits of the season and there are sooo many!

How about you? What are some of your favorite snacks for this time of year? Any you especially look forward to?
